Kelly and I were married on July 24, 2004. We enjoyed a honeymoon in the Dominican Republic. We came home to 313 Elm Street in Salisbury. Kelly worked as a bank teller in China Grove and I worked in a music store in Salisbury.
Friday, 8/13/04... Yes, Friday the 13th. (God is not superstitious, just saying.) Kelly and I were getting ready for work and I was starting the day with prayer and Bible study. In prayer, I heard the phrase: "Many are the plans of a man's heart..." I instantly knew it was from the Word, but I wasn't sure about the location. I found it!
Proverbs 19:21 - "Many are the plans of a man's heart, but the Lord's purpose prevails."
I showed the verse to Kelly and at work, I showed it to my friend Wayne. Little did we know that we would lose our jobs that day! At 1pm, our store was closed permanently.
Great, now I get to tell my new wife that I'm unemployed!
Kelly came home at 5:30pm. "Hey babe, remember the verse of Scripture from this morning? Guess God's plan means I'm not working at The Music Center anymore." Kelly's response: "Great! Now you can teach lessons instead!"
I opened the Psalmist Workshop a few weeks later on my 24th birthday. It has been so rewarding to work with so many incredible students and families.
